20 signs to know if your dream comes from God

Is the dream you are pursuing coming from God?

Joseph had a dream and he told it to his brothers, who hated him even more. Indeed, he said to them: Please listen to this dream I had. We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field. Suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it. His brothers said to him, “Do you intend to reign over us? Will you actually rule us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dream and what he had said. Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” When he told his father as well as his brothers, his father rebuked him and said, “What is this dream you had? Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?” His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the matter in mind. Genesis 37: 5-11

I wrote this article to help people understand that each human being has in him dreams deposited by God. It is undeniable that there are other dreams that do exist in the heart of man, such as dreams of pride, dreams given by the society and its media coverage, dreams inspired by the enemy, dreams sometimes inspired by our frustrations. Dreams that frustrated parents transfer to their child like the dad who failed in medicine and who invests thoroughly so that his son becomes a doctor. Is it really this child’s dream or isn’t it the father who is living his dream through this child?

I still remember the story of this man in the USA who received his medical degree at the university and during his speech said to his parents: “I made it dad and mom, I obeyed you but now I want to live my dreams”.

What a tragedy in my opinion! To sacrifice part of his life to satisfy the dreams of his parents.

So there are several sources of dreams. We must now know which one comes from God because it is the dream of God that will prevail and push us in our life.

The Bible says in Proverbs 19:21: “Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails”.

So here is a list of 20 signs to find out if the dream you are pursuing comes from God.

  • 1. Burden in your heart (Nehemiah 2: 3-4)
  • A burden is something that makes you sad, that makes you angry, something or a situation that you would like to change, that causes your indignation. Moses was sad when he saw his people being mistreated in Egypt.

Nehemiah was sad when he saw the walls of Jerusalem destroyed. Mere Theresa was angry when she saw the poor. She wanted to go live with them to change their daily life.

If God does not put a burden on your heart you will not want to commit. He puts the burden on you so that you act on the earth in his name. As for me one thing that grieves me is when I see a woman who devalues herself and who is not aware of her value. It hurts when I see a woman using men to achieve her goals, I long to see women who stand up, develop their talents and become sources of blessing while walking in holiness. This burden in my heart pushes me to write messages, to ask relevant questions, that provoke reflection and also disturb.

The Bible tells us that God had raised Esther to marry the King in order to liberate the Jewish people who were oppressed. He had put a burden in the heart of Queen Esther and also in the heart of her uncle and mentor Mordecai

  • 2. Creates a revolution
  • The dream of God in your life aims to create something new that God has never done on earth, a kind of revolution. We are all unique and have a tailor-made size plan like a costume. People often find it hard to believe that God wants to start something new on earth through their lives. They say to themselves: "who am I to pretend to change the world". So there is often a real identity problem to be resolved.

  • 3. Requires God’s help
  • The dream of God is so big and impressive that without his help you will not be able to realize it. You will need the help of the Holy Spirit day after day to get there.

In Luke 24:48 Jesus speaking of the Holy Spirit said to his disciples: “ I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high”.

Even Jesus Son of God had to walk hand in hand with the Holy Spirit to do God's work on earth.

  • 4. Requires years of preparation (Jesus was prepared for 33 years)
  • Preparation with God is inevitable. Some people get powerful prophecies and revelations about their life such as they will be great evangelists, great prophets, influential businessmen and they are all excited. So they think God will do things the following week.

The truth is that between the prophecy and its fulfillment 10 years can go by, 10 years during which God prepares an individual, forms him, breaks him.

Joseph was prepared for 30 years to act with impact for 3 years.

  • 5. It’s not about you are just a sprinkler who is sprinkled
  • The dream of God makes God your privileged employer. God uses you to reach others. You're just a vessel.

  • 6. Your dream goes hand in hand with your gifts and talents
  • The fulfillment of your dream will use your talents and gifts as tools.

Joseph was an economist for Pharaoh (talents) and prophet (spiritual gift interpretation of dreams). David (harp player, warrior, writer, psalmist)

    1 Samuel 16:23

  • 7. Your dreams activates a certain anointing of God
  • Without the anointing you can do nothing. The anointing is a spiritual covering that God gives you so that you can do things that naturally you could not do.

  • 8. The dream of God in your life attracts the anger of the world of darkness
  • When you have personal ambitions that are far from the plan of God for your life everything is calm in your life even if you do not succeed. Only the day you enter the divine plan, the enemy and his demons claim you and start to put sticks in your wheels.

  • 9. The dream of God in your life will attract a lot of jealousy
  • Once you pursue the dream of God in your life you become weird for your fellow men. You become a threat to those who do not act on their own dreams. You become the enemy of those who do not want change. Joseph was sold by his brothers as a slave because of the power of his dreams.

    10. The dream of God in your life will require your consecration, crucifixion of your flesh (your carnal nature) circumcision (change of your heart)

    11. The dream of God in your life attracts provisions.

God creates financial sources in your life so that, you lack nothing to accomplish what he asks you for.

There are people who deprive themselves of God’s financial provision by refusing to do his will. There is no company that can pay you as God would pay you when you agree to walk in his will.

Pastor Yvan Castanou often says that, when you do the will of God, there are insolents provisions that God puts at your disposal. You cannot do the will of God and languish in misery. It’s not possible.

God gives you tools to help you in the areas where you need to act. If you are photographer like me, God will provide so that you get good devices, good books, good computers, if you are a coach or motivator, God will give you easy access to resources (books, audio messages, films, videos) that will develop your knowledge. To rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, Nehemiah received letters from the king as authorization and also wood to rebuild. Nehemiah 2: 4-9

God puts beside you people who will help you, who are also filled with vision that you have and who will add something that you don’t have. I often say that, your weakness is someone else’s vocation. Moses was a stutterer and God sent his brother Aaron to him to speak correctly for him. Over the years, God sent many people to help me according to the seasons. People who wanted to see me succeed, even people who were neither from my family, nor from my country, nor from my continent and even less of my race.

The bible say that, God raises a man from a distant land to accomplish his purposes. Isaiah 46:11

God puts beside you pastors, prophets, encouragers, coaches, motivators to pray for you, to prophesy (announce good things)on you, to encourage you, to motivate you because, on the path of your destiny, the discouragement will be part of the lot.

    12. The dream of God in your life will teach you patience and perseverance

If you are in a hurry to see the dream of God come true, there is a good chance that you have personal ambitions hidden behind this dream. Sometimes, you want it to happen quickly, to show to others that you’re not just anyone. Sometimes, you want to succeed to brag and tell to those around you that you are someone important. Sometimes, pride feeds our endurance yet it is the will of God that should be the engine.

So it happens that, God himself extinguishes this dream to see the real desires and motivations of our hearts. God is the God of the resurrection and can bring our dream back to life once we understand that, it’s not about us but about him.

    13. The dream of God in your life will make you meditate on the word of God day and night. Joshua1:18

The territory of your dreams is a territory dominated by men powerful on the spiritual level; who sometimes are within occult circles even if they don’t admit it publicly. The word of God in you will allow you to make the power act in you to fulfill your dreams.

    14. The dream of God In your life will dictate your associates. (Separation of Abraham and Lot)

Once you will start walking in the direction that God has for you, many people will leave your life either out of jealousy, either by distancing from God himself, the dream of God in our lives sheds light on our associates and that’s where it hurts. Sometimes, you have to leave a boyfriend, a girlfriend, sometimes, it will be necessary to simply move away from people who are blocking the achievement of our dreams.

You realize, more and more people who make you waste time and those who make you save time. You’re going to start wanting to get away from people who tell you, it’s impossible to kiss those who tell you “nothing is impossible for God, everything is possible for those who believe”.

God himself, will begin to put your relationships in order. You will start losing relationships around you without really understanding. You will feel like people are isolating you. In fact, it’s God who is isolating you to protect the deposit that he has invested in you.

    15. The dream of God in your life will dictate your lifestyle and your diet.

Myles Monroe said that, if your dream takes 50 years to complete, you have to start paying attention to what you eat and drink. You can’t eat fast food everyday and want to fulfill your dreams. Your body will eventually run out and you will not be able to continue walking. The prophet Joel Francis Tatu said recently in a periscope that, many men of God died prematurely because of their poor hygiene food and to life. So start taking care of your body today. If you need help, I recommend you to connect yourself to our BACK to EDEN nutrition page on which, we regularly give nutritional advice.

    16. God’s dream will make you pray beyond what you imagine and especially by the spirit. Ephesians 6:18

A dream, is nurtured and triggered by prayer because, above all it is spiritual. Sometimes, we neglect prayer and think that as God has said it, then what he said will come to pass. While we sleep, the enemy and his organized kingdom speak words about our destiny in order to make our projects fail. We must therefore pray, pray and fast to maintain our dream.

    17. Your dream glorifies God and is a powerful tool for evangelization because, in the end it is only about that.

    18. Your dream frustrates you every time you abandon it

You sit at your workplace working and you see that this dream comes to visit you, you start ironing in broad daylight, you see yourself decorating, doing business, you see yourself advising coach, travel, you see yourself giving beauty advice, you see yourself encouraging, you see yourself singing, playing the guitar, playing the piano, you see writing books. Only, when you regain consciousness, you find yourself in this office where you feel that you should not be any more had it not be a salary you receive, at the end of the month. In fact in you is a seed that God has deposited and this seed you keep and growing. You have the impression of being a pregnant woman who cannot deliver. The dream is blocked inside of you and you are subject to this word in

Isaiah 55:11: “thus will my word come out of my mouth, it will not return to me without effect, but, it will do everything in which I have enjoyed myself, and will prosper in the things for which I have it sent?”

    19. The dream of God in your life will cultivate in you the love of others, of your neighbor, forgiveness.

The dream of God is directed towards others and not towards ourselves. When the love of others does not grow in us the dream of God does not grow in us either.

20- The dream of God will require you to walk by the spirit and abandon all that is carnal. Galatians 5:16

God’s dream requires sanctification and to flee fornication.

I see a lot of people telling me that they are lost in their lives and seem not to find their way. I see some people too who have started a walk with God but don’t hear his voice. Later when I digging a little further, they admit that they have not triumphed over the fight of the flesh because, they are still stuck in sins like fornication, adultery, masturbation which are sins which not only distance us from the presence of God, so handicap our ability to pursue our dream, but also those that make war on our own body. I will soon write an article on the consequences of sin on us and our destiny.

Work not for the food that perished, but, for that which remains for eternal life, which the son of man will give you; because, he it is him that the father, whom God has marked with his seal.

Thank you and stay bless
